Angry 70-200mm f2.8 dilemma

Since the Nikon 70-200 VR seems to be sold out EVERYWHERE are there any alternatives I should look at? I like to shoot indoor sports and need a good reach and fast glass. Anybody else had any luck with third-party glass that would fit a Nikon D300? (maybe even a D3 someday )

I'd look at the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO HSM II (latest version)

It's really well built and the glass is excellent, the High Speed Motor works well.

Default 70 200mm f2 8 dilemma

i agree with that as well. honestly, for 5k you can pick up something fun and enjoyable, an mx-5, 3 series vert, hell even some 70s vettes can be had for sub 10k now adays.
